I believe that what some think is punishment for their sins, is simply the consequences of their thoughts or actions. The bible says, “the child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child” (ezekiel 18:20).
These two truths, if received into the heart, can help heal our distorted image of god, and allow us to approach him with confidence, as the most loving, tender, merciful and forgiving father.
